A Brief History of Flame Tennis
Tennis was one of the primary programs offered in the first athletic season at SCS (1997/1998). Since then, the team has worked hard and become a competitive force in Alabama High School Athletic Association 1A. The team experienced their first Section win in 2005 and placed 10th in the State the same year. The school's first ever State Championship was Bethany Prince's individual win in 2006 and MacKenzie Bishop adding another one in 2009.
The team continues to place high as a team, in doubles, and individually each year at Sectionals and State.
In 2017, the #1 doubles team of Karleigh Cross and Lee Taylor Bishop won the state title for 1A-3A girls' tennis.
In 2017, there was significant interest in beginning a boys’ tennis Team, and their first year was a good one.
In 2018, the #1 doubles team of Madison Hughes and Lee Taylor Bishop were state champions for girls' 1A-3A.
In 2019, Lee Taylor Bishop won the state title at #1 singles for 1A-3A girls.
