2022 Lady Flame Softball

A Brief History of Flame Softball

Lady Flame softball is one of the oldest sports in SCS athletics, as it was one of the four sports included in the very first year of the school. From 1998 to 2003, the team competed in the Christian School Athletic Conference (CSAC). They were the CSAC champions in 2000 and 2002. Beginning in 2002, the school moved to the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and played in Division 1A.

The Lady Flame softball team made an appearance in Regional play for the first time in 2006. They lost 2 straight in the double elimination format.  They returned to Regional play in 2014. The team won their first Regional game and played in to the second day before being eliminated. Four of the nine starters graduated.

The 2015 season was a building year for the SCS softball program. The team had no seniors and was comprised of mostly 7th-9th graders with 3 juniors in the leadership positions. The team ended their season at the area tournament where one player, Torie Garner, earned a spot on the All-Area team.

"It's an honor to be the Head Softball Coach," said Flippo. "I absolutely love the students at SCS and am excited for the opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of young ladies. I believe this program can excel both athletically and spiritually. It is such a blessing to be a part of this team as we build for the future. Go Flame!"
