Brief History of Flame Basketball
Basketball was one of the first athletic programs included at Shoals Christian with teams for both boys and girls debuting in the first year of the school - 1997. The program first competed in the Southeastern Christian Conference and experienced much success: Boys' Basketball 1999/2000 Christian School Athletic Conference Champions (CSAC), Girls' Basketball 2000/2001 District Champions and 2001/2002 CSAC Champions. During the 2002/2003 season, the program's first year competing in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), Class 1A, Chad Burdine set a state record with 21 assists. The basketball program continues to experience much success with the boys and girls making multiple trips to Sub-Regional playoffs and the boys reaching the quarter finals of the Northwest Regional Championship.
