Elementary School

The elementary school of Shoals Christian consists of grades K-5 through six. All faculty members are state certified, highly qualified to teach the assigned grade level content, and have graduated from accredited teacher education programs. Our teachers focus on a multi-sensory instructional approach and aim to reach each learner's individual needs through small group instruction, individualized assistance, and tailored learning activities.

Students in grades K-5 through 4th are in a self-contained classroom environment. Students in grades five and six are team taught by two-three teachers in an effort to make the transition from middle school to junior high smoother.

Our curriculum in the elementary school is specifically designed to prepare students for the critical thinking required in our later grades and incorporates curricula from Christian textbook publishers. We adhere to the minimum required content standards from the Alabama Courses of Study and add additional instructional standards and learning experiences for an enriched educational experience.

Elementary students at Shoals Christian School receive instruction in the following core subjects:

  • Bible
  • reading comprehension
  • phonological awareness/phonics/spelling
